• This is the seventeenth issue of the annual Statistical Yearbook of Ireland (which replaced the former Statistical Abstract). The Yearbook contains information, tables, graphs and charts across a wide range of topics which present a comprehensive picture of Ireland today.
• This is the fourth year that the Yearbook is available in electronic format only. We hope that the flexibility provided by this format will provide a more interactive experience for users. We intend to further develop this product and we would welcome any feedback that you may wish to provide through the contact details below.
• The format of the Yearbook sees the publication divided into six sections, each containing several related chapters. The sections are as follows:
• People – Vital Statistics, Census and Labour Market
• Society – Crime, Environment, Information Society (Households and Individuals), Education, Social Inclusion and Household Budget
• Business – Information Society (Enterprises), Services, Industry and Building & Construction
• Economy – National Accounts, Balance of Payments, Trade, Prices and Earnings
• Tourism and Transport – Tourism & Travel and Transport
• Agriculture – Holdings, Crops & Livestock, Agriculture Accounts and Agriculture Prices
• The publication also includes two appendices as follows:
• Appendix 1 - Northern Ireland – Contains data received from the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) for a number of topics
• Appendix 2 – Contains links to the methodology for the source of each indicator if available
