According to the decision of the State Council,China carried out the third national agricultural census based on reference day of December 31,2016 and reference period of year 2016.The census covered agricultural households,rural households holding a land contract with the state collective or possess the means of agricultural production,agricultural corporations,villagers' committees and town and township governments.The census was designed to collect information on agricultural production capacity,agriculture outputs,agriculture infrastructure and its basic social services and living situation of farmers,etc.The agricultural census was a nation wide complete enumeration.The enumerators interviewed each respondent and filled out questionnaires.Through the census,basic information of agriculture,rural areas and farmers across the country was collected and new changes related to these three issues were identified. Summary Data of the Third National Agricultural Census in China contains six parts:Brief Description and Main Statistics;Basic Information on Census Objects:Condition and Activities of Agriculture Sector;Rural Infrastructure and Basic Public Servicesiving Conditions of Farmers;Explanations to Indicators. The national data in this book do not include those of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region,the Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan Province. This book is in accord with the National Standard of Industrial Classification for National Economic Activities(GB/T4754-2011). Notations used in this book:“…”indicates that the data is not large enough to be measured with smallest unit of the current table,“blank space”indicates that the data is not available and“#”indicates that it is a major breakdown of the total. The part of Explanations to Indicators in this book refers to the Programme of the Third National Agricultural Census,in which a few indicators' names may slightly differ from the data tables.
